With the thesis submitted and awaiting the November Boards, with results to follow in mid-may, I myself, am  concentrating on the marathon which takes place next Monday ….
<a href="I'm running the 2010 Dublin Marathon“>

Cant believe I’m admitting this but am having inklings (nothing to do with Oxford) about taking on a PhD, but if I were I am torn between looking at lost gospels or tracing behaviours and conflict within the very early church … we’ll see ….

"I'm home, I don't have to run any more if I dont want to"

Challenges are good for us.  They keep us motivated, stimulated, interested in continuing what we are doing.  Refining, improving, getting better!

I’m trying to use those mantras I learnt for my Ironman training within the context of putting the masters together.   Its a bit of a frustrating process.  But its a process nontheless.

I came across this site whilst searching on google for pictures of the Hereford Mappa Mundi. I wanted to break down the map into sections to possibly demonstrate along side some text within my thesis. Not sure if it will work. There are other maps here too on the Isidore World Map, the Ebstorf mappamundi, the Vesconte Mappamundi, the Hidgen World Map, the Beatus World Map, and a World Map of Al Idrisi.    http://turkeyinmap.com/Medieval.html

This is a Demo from Readiris 12 .. couple of different little demos .. worth having a look at … other than to look at the first one, I havent looked at any of the others. Is a great resource to have, whereby if you have a lot of handwritten text, its all scanned in i.e. multiple hand written surveys, through the magic of OCR the software deciphers the handwriting in the set area of the answer sheets, each survey has a unique bar code – unique for each individual survey answer sheet and for each specific survey. Presto, end result is a lovely report summary! THus redeeming some poor unfortunate copy typist i.e me, from hours of mind numbingly boring repitition. Happiness all round!!

This isn’t terribly exciting but I got to go on a Word Level 2 course recently primarily (work of course) to assist with the formatting of large volumes of text i.e. say a thesis!   By the way, the computer centre will do training courses (excel, word etc) for any students – particularly if there is say a small group looking to cover certain  aspects.     The attached is a document with SAMPLE text but it shows an index which is created by using headings 1, 2, 3, etc .. Mike did go over this way back but its not harm to refresh those skills, Footnote, page numbering etc and importing my bibliography from Zotero.  Still having a few format problems with the import of the Bibliographies so I do find I must proof read carefully.
